Dear Students,

I hope your Rosh Hashana was both meaningful and inspiring! Due to the quick advancement of the coming holidays, this week is jammed packed with programming. Here is what you can expect this week at ROOTS!

1. The annual ROOTS BBQ is this WEDNESDAY SEPT 15TH @ 7PM at ROOTS Headquarters. 14 Nadworny Ln, Stony Brook- The party will continue till’ midnight, so come when you can! For those who plan on driving, please be courteous to our neighbors and park as close to our side of the street as possible.

2. The first Lunch and Learn of the semester will be Oct. 7 @ 12pm in the new Delancy Street Deli, where Rabbi Dave will continue our discussion of Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our Fathers) and btw FREE LUNCH WILL BE SERVED TO THOSE WHO ATTEND THE PROGRAM! Enjoy great food, and learn something too!

3. Rabbi Dave will begin interviewing applicants for our highly acclaimed Maimonides fellowship program! The program consists of ten classes on everything you need to know about traditional Judaism. As an added incentive, our program will be going to Washington D.C for one of our greatest Shabbatons ever! Applicants who successfully complete the program receive $400! 4. Birthright registration has now opened, so now is the time to sign up! For those who have already been on a Birthright and would like a second opportunity to visit Israel, ROOTS will again be running its Israel experience. I can’t believe that Rosh Hashanah is already here, we just started school!

Despite the hectic nature of the holiday season, ROOTS wants to keep you in the know about all upcoming programming this month. Here’s whats you can expect in the coming weeks at ROOTS!

1. Rosh Hashana is just around the corner! If you plan on being in Stony Brook for the holidays and would like meals, services or accommodations, please contact the Hillel office or me directly at 512 299 3676

2. Our Annual Welcome Back BBQ is next week sept 15th at 7pm! Join friends and family for the biggest BBQ of the year! 14 Nadworny Lane, Stony Brook NY. See ya there!

3. ROOTS kicks off its first Lunch and Learn session next week sept 16th at 12pm in the new Delancy Street Deli! Come to learn and we will buy you your first lunch!

4. Join our family for our pre-fast dinner right before Yom Kippur next week at 4:30 on sept 17th.
