Shabbos Experience

Every weekend, ROOTS provides Stony Brook Univeristy students for all their Shabbos needs.

Rabbi Dave’s Carlebach Style Friday night minyan is a particular favorite amongst the students. After an inspirational service, the students are invited back to the Rabbi’s home where Tova cooks classic Shabbos delicacies. This is followed by our “ask the Rabbi” sessions. Students hang out in our ROOTS lounge, where they relax and have fun by our pool, ping pong, and air hockey tables.

On Saturday’s students are again invited for Shabbos lunch and learning classes. Students often stay all afternoon to enjoy ROOTS Lounge, Rabbi Dave’s classes plus the extra time they can get with the Rabbi for personal discussion.

Shabbos in concluded with a Carlebach style Havdallah service and accompanied by Rabbi Dave’s guitar playing. One thing is certain.

A Shabbos with ROOTS is a Shabbos that is remembered for a lifetime…

Consult the ROOTS calendar for the specific times and dates.
