Dear Students,
I hope your Rosh Hashana was both meaningful and inspiring! Due to the quick advancement of the coming holidays, this week is jammed packed with programming. Here is what you can expect this week at ROOTS!
1. The annual ROOTS BBQ is this WEDNESDAY SEPT 15TH @ 7PM at ROOTS Headquarters. 14 Nadworny Ln, Stony Brook- The party will continue till’ midnight, so come when you can! For those who plan on driving, please be courteous to our neighbors and park as close to our side of the street as possible.
2. The first Lunch and Learn of the semester will be Oct. 7 @ 12pm in the new Delancy Street Deli, where Rabbi Dave will continue our discussion of Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our Fathers) and btw FREE LUNCH WILL BE SERVED TO THOSE WHO ATTEND THE PROGRAM! Enjoy great food, and learn something too!
3. Rabbi Dave will begin interviewing applicants for our highly acclaimed Maimonides fellowship program! The program consists of ten classes on everything you need to know about traditional Judaism. As an added incentive, our program will be going to Washington D.C for one of our greatest Shabbatons ever! Applicants who successfully complete the program receive $400! 4. Birthright registration has now opened, so now is the time to sign up! For those who have already been on a Birthright and would like a second opportunity to visit Israel, ROOTS will again be running its Israel experience.
